2021-2022 will be the season for the Premier League to return in all its glory – and you can be there! The stadiums are reopening and the world’s leading football league will be spectacular again. Besides the always exciting title race and all the top players, you should pay attention to the following things to fully enjoy the Premier League.
This season many teams will be fighting for the title again: Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and perhaps Leicester City or West Ham United. Matches between these teams are played at the highest level, with a lot of tension and the most exciting atmosphere. Football fans around the world are looking forward to August 14: the day the Premier League starts again. Defending champion Manchester City starts with a a top match. The team of manager Pep Guardiola opens the season visiting Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea will first play home against Crystal Palace and Liverpool will start at Norwich City.
West Ham United and Leicester City, two impressive teams last season, will meet in the second round on August 21 in London. The week after, Liverpool will play against Chelsea on August 28 and Manchester City against Arsenal. The first weekend we are really looking forward to is the one of September 25th. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur then play the North London derby, while Manchester City visit Chelsea. Two world class matches in the same weekend.
Liverpool and Manchester City, the champions of the past two years, will face each other for the first time on October 2. A month later, the first Manchester derby is played: on November 6 at Old Trafford. The first half of the season ends on Boxing Day (December 26), when all teams get to action. Norwich City won the title in the Championship. Something striking about Norwich is that the club has supporter groups from all over the world. In the stands they are united. With constant vocal support they encourage their mutual love.
Watford is also making its comeback in the Premier League. The Hornets can say they have a famous singer among their supporters: Sir Elton John even was owner of his favourite club. Before every home game, his song ‘I’m Still Standing’ is sung along by the Watford fans.
Brentford had to wait 74 years to play on the highest podium again. The West London club won the play-offs against Swansea City and will be playing in the Premier League for the first time. Not at the familiar Griffin Park, but in the brand new and modern Brentford Community Stadium. A new era begins for The Bees.
